Position Description
GHS is seeking a Communications Assistant to assist in the development and implementation communications strategies for GHS’ clients. The Assistant will report directly to the Communications Director as well as to the firm’s senior staff. He/she The Assistant will work primarily on projects related to vaccines access, but may also be expected to contribute to other projects as necessary. GHS provides full-spectrum communications services for its clients. As such, the Assistant should expect to spend a significant amount of his/her time on communications and media relations, especially getting a thorough understanding of the health and science media landscape. The Assistant must also be able to identify trends, opportunities and key reporters in India. He/she will be responsible for assisting in the production of communications strategies for current projects, drafting important communications documents, i.e. press releases, fact sheets, speeches, and Q and A’s, editing communications materials, and developing a documented network of media contacts, including journalists and consultants. GHS also expects the Assistant to also quickly assume responsibility for managing key components of the company’s communications projects. This includes accounting for the project team’s monthly activities, tracking account deliverables, managing team calendars, schedules, travel logistics and other administrative duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
GHS is seeking an intelligent self-starter capable of quickly understanding GHS’ work and rapidly assuming an increasing amount of responsibility. A passion for understanding global public health issues and trends is essential for this position. The individual must be extremely organized and detail-oriented, capable of independently producing accurate documents quickly when required, and comfortable in a fast-paced international environment.
In addition, the individual should possess the following traits
• B.A. degree in related field and at least 1 year of work experience
• Communications, public relations, or journalism experience
• Language skills in Hindi and English
• Excellent writing, editing, and research skills
• Fast learner
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Deadline oriented
• Knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in global health
• Capable of working with minimal supervision
• Willing to travel internationally with possibility to participate in a company-wide NYC/Delhi rotational program
Additional Qualifications
• Communications, public relations, or journalism experience
• International work experience and/or exposure
• Willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary
• Proficient on Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
